Since the early part of this year, the joint replacement surgeons of the Arthritis Center have been performing their hip replacement surgeries using a new, minimally invasive technique called “SuperPath”. “SuperPath” stands for supercapsular percutaneously assisted total hip. Using this procedure, we are able to replace a damaged hip joint using a smaller incision with less tissue injury. Unlike in some minimally invasive procedures, “Superpath” is performed without exposing our patients to risks of intraoperative fluoroscopy. There is less trauma to the capsule, ligaments, and muscles that surround the hip joint. Patients can therefore expect a quicker recovery from their surgery.
